The NGO-10 Omnidirectional Network Gateway incorporates a Wisens V31 ZigBee USB Module in a standard USB dongle format to provide a connection from the ZigBee network to a PC. A 1.8 metre USB extension cable is available to provide more flexible positioning of the Network Gateway for optimised communication.

The built-in application and Ember stack manage all the communications with other devices on the network and with the Epidata Serial Handler software in the computer. The NGO-10 Network Gateway is programmed as a ZigBee network co-ordinator.

The NGO-10 Network Gateway provides a connection between the ZigBee wireless sensor network and the IT infrastructure. Depending on location and orientation, radio communication can be optimised by connecting it via a standard USB cable, allowing some flexibility in positioning the pod. It is intended to be used in situations where a strong signal is available from the nearest nodes on the ZigBee wireless network.
